Meet our Math Coach: Mrs. Tara Snellings
Hi! My name is Tara Snellings and I am the math instructional coach for the five elementary schools on the east side of the Parsippany-Troy Hills School District. Although this is my 23rd year in the school district, it is my first year serving as a math instructional coach. In this role, I will be collaborating with the teachers to help them best meet the individual needs of their math learners using the Guided Math instructional approach. Through differentiated instruction, hands-on activities and the use of mathematical best practices, I am confident we can help every student improve their math skills.
I am a proud Montclair State University alumna, having received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from there. During my tenure in the district, I have taught third and fourth grade as a classroom teacher at Knollwood Elementary School. Then, for the past three years I have been the Basic Skills Math and 5th Grade Accelerated Math teacher there. These experiences have allowed me to focus on the progression of the math curriculum from kindergarten all the way through sixth grade.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and my goldendoodle, Ginger. My 15 year old son and 11 year old daughter keep my husband and I busy as spectators at football, field hockey, softball and baseball games, as well as dance recitals. We are their biggest fans! I also enjoy taking walks with my dog, baking, reading, and spending time with my friends.
I am excited to be joining the Troy Hills staff!
