BSI Reading

Mrs. Poquette

Hi, I am Tiffany Poquette, Troy Hills School's Reading Specialist. From a very young age, I wanted to become a teacher.  I have such great memories “teaching” on my large, green chalkboard in my childhood home.  My older sister would sometimes volunteer to be my student; other days my Cabbage Patch Dolls had to do! One way or another, I spent a great deal of my childhood playing teacher.  As I got older, other professions would cross my mind, but my heart always went back to teaching.  I decided to pursue this career path, attending Montclair State University when I graduated high school.  MSU placed me in Parsippany for my student teaching experience.  That placement was life-changing, as it was the foundation to my career in Parsippany. It was not only the start of my career, but it was the beginning of so many incredible learning experiences, memories, and friendships.

In 2004, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Montclair State University. My teaching career began at the Parsippany elementary school where I did my student teaching.  For approximately 10 years, l taught various grade levels there.  The valuable experiences I gained teaching and understanding different grade levels, played an integral role in preparing me to be a Reading Specialist. In 2013, I received my Master's Degree in Reading, with a Reading Specialist Certification, also from Montclair State University.  Timing is truly sometimes everything, as that same year, an opportunity arose in Parsippany for me to pursue my desire of becoming a Reading Specialist.  I was fortunate to transition to that role at Troy Hills School, and become a part of the incredible Troy Hills Community. Being a Reading Specialist was a dream of mine from my early years as a classroom teacher. Each and everyday my students make me so incredibly proud to be their teacher.

When I am not with my school family, I am home with my own beautiful family.  I am married to my wonderful husband, Andy, and we have two amazing children, Demi and Drew.  Our newest addition to our family is our sweet, little puppy, Luna.  She has added even more excitement and love to our home!  As a family, we enjoy taking walks together, playing soccer in our backyard, and making forts in our living room for family movie nights!  Luna joins us for those too! As long as we are together, we are making memories, which we are so very grateful for.

Parent/teacher communication is essential in the success of your child.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have (tpoquette@pthsd.net).  May your child have a wonderful, successful school year!
