Vocal Music

                                   Children singing

Vocal Music is a great place for students to sing, play instruments, and make music! While it is called vocal music, we do much more than sing in class. We play many classroom instruments including bells, xylophones, tambourines, drums, triangles, and guiros while also learning to read and notate music. Music is a great way for all students from kindergarten to fifth grade to express their creativity and be part of an ensemble.

Our fourth and fifth graders put on a fantastic performance at the Spring concert! The band and choir worked very hard and it truly showed. Additionally, the third grade students performed at the flutophone concert and were even able to try out band instruments for next year. It has been a great year in vocal music and we look forward to returning in the fall. Have a musical summer!

Hi, I am Mrs. Hazel and I have been the general/vocal music teacher at Troy Hills school for kindergarten through fifth grade for the past nine years. I have always loved music and knew at an early age that I wanted to be a teacher. I studied vocal music education at The College of New Jersey and received a Masters in Education from Walden University. While I realize that not all students love to sing as I do, I strive to instill a love of music in some form in all of my students by exposing them to different styles and genres of music as well as by creating music with classroom instruments. When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling, especially to Disney World!
