My name is Bayley Clayton and I am the School Counselor at Troy Hills School. As the school counselor, I work with teachers and parents to help children achieve their fullest academic, social, and emotional potential.
Our character education theme for this year is “Caught Showing Great Character!” When a Troy Hills staff member “catches” a student demonstrating our character trait of the month, the student will receive a paper fish with his or her name written across it. These fish are displayed on our bulletin board outside of the main office for everyone to see! At the end of the month, we recognize these students on the morning announcements by reading each of their names. This year we’ve already learned about Responsibility, Respect, Gratitude, and Fairness. The character trait for January will be Honesty and in February we will focus on Tolerance.
Also, throughout the year, I visit classrooms to deliver lessons focused on character education. These lessons and activities are designed to help children develop decision making and problem solving skills, as well as a better understanding and acceptance of themselves.
In addition to classroom lessons, I also:
- Facilitate small groups
- Meet with students individually
- Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel
Please contact me if you have any concerns or requests for assistance regarding your child. I look forward to working with your child during the 2016-2017 school year!
